Damaged roof tile needs replacing

Fascias are traditionally a softwood board which is mounted to the exposed edges of your rafters, however in recent years this has been replaced with high grade uPVC as softwood has a tendency to rot. The purpose of a fascia is to protect and seal the roof and the interior of your home from exposure to the elements, to support roof tiles at an eaves level and to provide support for the guttering.

There are many advantages for installing the new upvc fascias, soffits and guttering.

Soffits are the essential support to the roofline which links the fascias and bargeboards to the wall, soffits can be vented to allow airflow and ventilation in the loft space. A soffit is a covering which sits between the outer edges of your roof and the adjacent wall of the house, protecting and sealing the rafter feet. If your roof has a soffit (not all do), you will be able to see it if you stand underneath the overhang of your roof and look up.

Dry Ridge
Dry Ridge has been designed to give the appearance of a traditional bedded ridge, but with all the benefits that a modern dry ridge system provides, such as secure mechanical fixing and appropriate ventilation.

The Dry Ridge system incorporates ventilation strips to support the ridges and provides high level ventilation.

Dry Verge

The overhang or verge of a roof is commonly protected by a wet verge made of mortar. However, exposure to the weather deteriorates the mortar, which causes it to crack and crumble leading to water leakage and roof damage.  

Guttering has several different designs like Square Gutter, Round Gutters, Ogee and Deep Flow Guttering.  All of these designs are available in White UPVC, Brown UPVC, Black UPVC and Caramel UPVC, the Black & Brown PVC Guttering is co-extruded with a White interior and is the solution to the problems associated with rapid heat absorption and expansion of dark plastic gutter profiles.

It is essential to keep the gutters maintained, they allow for the rain water to drain off the roof and flow into the gutters, drainpipes and drains.  Should any blockages occur in the gutters, and they do get clogged up with leaves, grime, nesting materials etc., the water will find a way of escaping and unfortunately this could lead to dampness in your property, brickwork problems or even affect the foundation of a building if left unmaintained.  We would recommend the gutters are cleaned twice a year to help prevent any blockages.
